Mesothelioma, Meso Symptoms, Stages of Malignant Mesothelioma, Meso Cure - Mesothelioma, though uncommon, is not a rare form of cancer. It is hard to diagnose and shows minimal response to therapy. It is the most serious of all asbestos-related diseases. In the chest cavity, abdominal cavity, and the cavity around your heart, there is lining of specialized cells called mesothelial cells. These, also cover the outer surface of most of your internal organs. The tissue formed by these cells is called mesothelium. It helps protect your organs by producing a special lubricating fluid that allows the mobility of organs.
The mesothelium of the chest is called the pleura and the mesothelium of the abdomen is known as the peritoneum. The mesothelium of the pericardial cavity, the "sac-like" space around the heart, is called the pericardium. Tumors of the mesothelium can be benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancerous). A malignant tumor of the mesothelium is called a malignant mesothelioma. Because most mesothelial tumors are cancerous, malignant mesothelioma is often simply called mesothelioma.
Photodynamic therapy uses light energy to destroy cancer cells, Immunotherapy enhances the immune system, Gene therapy pinpoints and corrects the genetic defect that caused the tumor. Surgery is the removal of the affected part and sometimes the areas nearby, Radiation therapy uses high-dose x-rays or other high-energy rays. Radiation may come from a machine outside the body (external radiation therapy) or from putting materials that produce radiation (radioisotopes) through thin plastic tubes in the affected cells (internal radiation therapy).
If fluid has collected in the chest or abdomen, the doctor may drain the fluid out of the body using needle. If fluid is removed from the chest, this is called thoracentesis. ( for abdomen it is called paracentesis).
The doctor may also put drugs through a tube into the chest to prevent more fluid from accumulating. Intraoperative photodynamic therapy is a new type of treatment that uses special drugs and light to kill cancer cells during surgery. A drug that makes cancer cells more sensitive to light is injected into a vein several days before surgery. During surgery to remove as much of the cancer as possible, a special light is used to shine on the pleura.
Mesothelioma cancer needs early diagnosis and treatment, so to let it not culminate into an uncontrollable stage. The earlier the better. If you come across any of the aforementioned symptoms, immediately consult a specialist. Perhaps the treatment methods may give you incredible results and leave the rest to the Providence.

Meso Symptoms
The manifestation mesothelioma symptoms take place at a slow pace. Symptoms for Pleural Mesothelioma (involving the lung / chest area) include pain in the chest and lower back, difficulty in breathing and coughing, weight loss, fever, muscle weakness, sensory loss, swelling of the face and arms, hoarseness, and coughing up blood. Symptoms of Peritoneal Mesothelioma (involving the abdominal / stomach cavity, liver, spleen or the bowel) include abdominal bloating due to fluid accumulation in the abdominal cavity, nausea & vomiting, swelling of the feet, fever, and impaired bowel function.Stages of Malignant Mesothelioma
Staging is the process of doing more tests to find out the extend of cancer spread, after detecting mesothelioma. Mesothelioma stages determine the treatment plan to be adopted. The following stages are used. In Stage I, the cancer is found in the lining of the chest cavity near the lung and heart or in the diaphragm or the lung. Stage II, is one in which the cancer has spread beyond the lining of the chest to lymph nodes in the chest. In Stage III, the cancer will have spread into the chest wall, center of the chest, heart, through the diaphragm, or abdominal lining, and in some cases even into nearby lymph nodes. Stage IV is when Cancer will have spread to distant organs or tissues. Recurrent malignant mesothelioma is a stage when the cancer has recurred after it was treated before. It may re-appear in the lining of the chest or abdomen or in another part of the body.Meso Cure
Mesothelioma cure depends on the cancer type, how far it has spread, and the patient's age and general health. Chemotherapy uses drugs such as Onconase, ALIMTA (pemetrexed) in combination with cisplatin. Chemotherapy may be taken by pill, or through injection in the vein or muscle. It is called a systemic treatment because the drug enters the bloodstream, travels through the body, and can kill cancer cells throughout the body. Chemotherapy may be put directly into the chest (intrapleural chemotherapy). Intrapleural interferon gamma is the drug administered.Photodynamic therapy uses light energy to destroy cancer cells, Immunotherapy enhances the immune system, Gene therapy pinpoints and corrects the genetic defect that caused the tumor.
